Katarzyna Ujma-Wąsowicz
President, Sociaty of Polish Town Planners, Branch in Silesia
Architect, researcher, academic teacher, Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology, President of the Silesian Branch of the Society of Polish Town Planners and member of it’s General Board.
Throughout her academic career, she has followed the principle that urban planning and urban design should start from the small scale, from the needs of the user. To this she has devoted her research work, focused on ergonomics and universal design in urban and architectural interiors. Other research and professional work she conducts relates to the search for optimal, modern forms of education for architecture students and the planning of sports and recreation sites in the city.
She is internationally and domestically experienced: more than 90 of her articles have been published (many in interdisciplinary co-authorship), including two original compact papers; she has chaired more than a dozen scientific sessions in Poland and abroad, has directly presented the results of her research at conferences in the US, China, Greece, Portugal, Germany, South Korea, Croatia, Japan and Poland.
She holds building Licenses without limitations; she owns a small architectural studio, is a member of the Society of Polish Town Planners and the Polish Ergonomic Society; a member of the Regional Commission for Urban Planning and Architecture at the Silesian Voivodship Office; a member of the Jury of the nationwide "Accessibility Leader" competition under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland; and a member of the Polish Advisory Board of Architecture operating at the Association of Polish Architects.
