
Aleksandra Zawistowska
Aleksandra Zawistowska is an artist and designer. She established Szkło, her collectible design Studio in 2022 during her studies at Sandberg Instituut. Her primary focus in glasswork is oftentimes combined with a variety of materials, such as stone, metal, wood and others. Having studied in Warsaw, Lisbon and Amsterdam, she holds Master degrees in both, Art and Architecture. Aleksandra navigates diverse mediums, techniques and scales, which necessitate frequent travels between workshops in many locations across Europe. Aleksandra's design process is highly organic and intuitive, with final forms often oscillating around brutalist, radical shapes that challenge the physical properties of materials and the definition of beauty. Drawing inspiration from the nature, geology, and the built environment, her work merges the realms of science, culture and oftentimes something beyond. Aleksandra is listed in AD100 of Poland. She is a finalist of Kunszt Program of Starak Family Foundation. She is an Artist in Residence of Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art in Ustka and Arctic Circle Expedition of Open Bey Art and Science Center in Svalbard Archipelago, she is a scholarship holder of Brooklyn's Urban Glass. Her glasswork was published in Dutch Design Magazine of the year 2023 curated by BNO. She was announced as “Stretching the Definition of Design” by GLUE Amsterdam. Aleksandra's work was published in international medias as Wallpaper, Vogue, AD, Elle Decor, Milk Magazine, Goodmoods, Dwell Magazine, Cultured Mag, TVN, among others, and displayed worldwide - in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, United States, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Georgia, Ukraine, South Korea and Poland.
