Jasmien Herssens

Founder of fourmind, Vice President, EIDD Design for All Europe

Jasmien Herssens is a dedicated figure in Design for All, Inclusive Design, and Universal Design. Studying architecture was her choice and solution to understand how to create better environments for everyone. Her professional career began at Ante-architecten and Wim Goes Architectuur. Jasmien values diverse user perceptions to improve inclusive design experiences. Her PhD investigated design methodologies and haptic design parameters informed by insights from people born blind, enhancing multisensory architecture. With 18 years in academia, Jasmien teaches design methodology, architectural design, and theory, focusing on multisensory experiences and the power of design to promote inclusion. As Vice-President of EIDD-Design for All Europe, she represents DfA Europe at the European Disability Forum and participates in various international activities. Jasmien's personal journey is marked by diverse experiences and challenges, which she embraces to better understand the impact of inclusion. She founded "fourmind," an organization of people with disabilities that facilitates and generates Design for All processes. Recognized for her innovative approach, Jasmien has received numerous awards and is invited as an expert at international conferences and juries.
