EXHIBITION NUMBER: SW04
“PLAYFULNESS” is an exhibition presenting the work of students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk majoring in: Interior Design, Industrial Design, and Painting. The title is a reference to a liberated approach to the creative process, which is becoming a starting point for the art and design projects. The exhibited works stem from inspiration, experimentation, and childlike wonder of the world, which are values often pushed aside in a formal approach to creation.
The exhibition showcases varied forms of dialogue between form, function, and aesthetics, underlining the joy stemming from discovery and spontaneity of action. Instead of striving for rigid results, the artists and designers play around with the creative process, allowing unexpected solutions and surprising effects. This way, art and design become an area for experimentation, where the sole experience of creation is an integral part of the finished work.
The exhibition also references modern trends related to various “-nesses,” such as mindfulness, wellness, or happiness, which dominated our idea of well-being and supporting productivity. On the contrary to these phenomena, however, “PLAYFULLNESS” proposes a more intuitive and sensitive approach to creation, placing importance on fun as a key element of creativity.
The works presented at the exhibition were created under the guidance of Professors Filip Ludka, Sławomir Fijałkowski, and Piotr Józefowicz. There creators were the students Viktoryia Skorb and Jakub Kozłowski.
The exhibition arrangement was designed in accordance with the concept by Filip Ludka, PhD.
